Listening Party for The Floacist at Layla Lounge

deep.honey attended the listening party for The Floacist, Natalie Stewart (formerly of Floetry), at Layla Lounge in NE last night.

The Floacist's new album is entitled Floetic Soul, and it drops on 11/9.  The tracks previewed last night had the well-dressed crowd bobbing their heads.  If these songs are indicative of the rest of the album, it will be a mix of radio-ready, modern, uptempo grooves and her trademark sexy and smooth poetic flows.  She's an industry survivor who began performing over 13 years ago in London.  The Floacist also happens to be a talented songwriter who's penned lyrics for the likes of Jill Scott and Bilal.  You should definitely check her out.

The surprise guest of the night was D.C.'s own Raheem DeVaughn.  He appears on one of the album's upcoming tracks, "Keep It Coming."
