If You EVER Needed Evidence That Prayer Makes a Difference...

If you EVER needed evidence that prayer makes a difference...

You definitely received it today.

Although the Supreme Court just issued a delay (not a stay) in the execution of Troy Davis so that a review of the decision can be conducted, please know that its intervention is nothing short of a miracle in the conservative climate in which we currently exist.

So many people across the nation marching, praying and advocating for a man who was literally minutes away from execution this evening...it was just inspiring.

As we say at my church...

"God is good...all the time!"

This case makes evident the blatant lie of a "post-racial" America.  However, national efforts to mobilize African-Americans on Davis' behalf should remind us all that we still have the ability to effectively wield significant political power when needed.  We aren't a monolith, but we WILL come together when necessary.  The fight for civil rights and social justice is still alive and well in this country, and the powers that be better recognize.

Update, Midnight, 9/22:  I am saddened by the news that Troy Davis was executed at 11:08 PM after the Supreme Court issued a ruling that affirmed the Georgia Supreme Court's decision.  Who knew that they would make such an expeditious decision?  I don't regret my post--God blessed this man with a few additional hours of life, and regardless of the outcome, I am confident that God was there for him, even in his darkest hour.  Those who feel that the death penalty should be abolished must fight on...
